A SITE to graze ponies off Orford Road has been approved by Warrington Borough Council, despite complaints from residents.

The land, owned by Brian Foden, is already used to graze ponies, however, a lawful development certificate has now been partly approved by the council’s planning committee.

The application was made by Janet Spencer, who owns the animals, and lives on Orford Road.

It means she will be able to continue to keep four horses at the site.

Other residents on Orford Road had objected, citing flooding, the ‘awful’ smell of manure, and ‘unlawful’ dumping of manure.

Trees have also been cut down, they said.

The council rejected part of the application to allow a private caravan and logs to be stored at the same location.

It said enforcement action can be taken if a caravan and logs remain at the site.
