A DISABLED dad says he is being ignored by Golden Gates HousingTrust over complaints his one bedroom bungalow is not big enough to support his partner and two children.

David Ross, aged 35, lives in the small property on Cobden Street in Orford with girlfriend Kelly Makin.

The couple are celebrating a new arrival after daughter Summer was born on November 21.

However, Mr Ross says a newborn baby has added to overcrowding problems at the family home, where two-year-old son Richard also lives.

The dad-of-two, who says he has cerebral palsy and club foot, has requested a two bedroom address from GGHT.

He said: "We requested a move ages ago to a house on Lowe Avenue but Golden Gates keep telling us we will have to wait and keep asking.

"Kelly has been crying with the stress of it all, and just after having a baby.

"There is no room to move in the bungalow and we need to move as soon as possible."

A GGHT spokesman said the family have been listed as a priority for a move.

“We have contacted Mr Ross again and advised that the property which is being referred to on Lowe Avenue has not yet been allocated.

"We can also confirm that Mr Ross has not been refused on the basis of his needs, and has been issued with priority for rehousing on the basis of over crowding.

"Mr Ross is eligible to bid on two bedroom bungalows or two bedroom houses with ground floor bathroom and bedroom facilities, or houses with a stair lift installed, if approved by an occupational therapist.

"We regret that we are unable to predict or give an indication of when the family will be rehoused as this will greatly depend on the properties which come available, whether they are suitable and if Mr Ross chooses to bid on them.”
