VOLUNTEERS turned out for a successful litter pick in Latchford last Saturday.
Victoria Park Residents Association (Vipra) held the clean-up at St Hilda's Mission, on Slater Street, as well as parts of Pear Tree Place and Oldham Street.
Eleven people joined forces to tackle the rubbish and Vipra vice-chairman Ken Wormald praised the locals who were present.
"Events like this are very important for the community and it is marvellous to see the people helping," he said.
"There were quite a few new faces there, including some of the younger generation which was also good to see.
"We are trying to get the name out there more to get more people involved and hopefully we can."
Local councillors Maureen McLaughlin and Les Morgan were also on hand to help with the clean-up and later with the refreshments back at St Hilda’s Mission.
Another litter pick is planned for next month, with details to be released soon.
