JOBSEEKERS turned out in force for the Bewsey and Dallam Employment Fair.

The event, run by Golden Gates Housing Trust (GGHT) in partnership with Warrington Borough Council, was part of a project to help improve wellbeing in the area.

The project is bringing together organisations working in Bewsey and Dallam to engage residents, integrate services and pool resources to make the best for the two communities.

Representatives from Crudens, First Directions, the council’s family information and careers services, Housing 21, Direct Health and Allied Care were on hand to provide information about career development, volunteering and employment opportunities.

GGHT’s employment initiatives team were also recruiting residents onto a 12 week environmental training course run in partnership with Groundworks.

There were also job vacancies being advertised during the day, which took place last Monday at Bewsey Community Centre, on Troutbeck Avenue.

The 65 people who went could also take advantage of free computers at Bewsey IT Suite to look for jobs online and improve their CVs and cover letters.

GGHT chairman Roy Smith, said: “It was fantastic to see so many residents take advantage of this opportunity to receive information, advice and guidance that will help make a positive change in their lives.”

Bewsey and Whitecross Clr Pat Wright, executive board member for health and wellbeing and adult services, added: “I am delighted so many organisations chose to take part .”
