Collegiate training gives beauty therapist a second shot at prestigious title

ALL eyes are on Brazil this month but a Howley beauty therapist will be taking an extra keen interest ahead of her own trip to the country next year.

Rianne Chester, is in training for the Worldskills International 2015, which is taking place in Sao Paulo The 21-year-old narrowly missed out on representing the UK in beauty therapy at the 2013 event by one mark.

Through her training at Warrington Collegiate she has been given a second chance at the event.

She said: “I came to Warrington Collegiate at 17 and started competition work through the college at 18, taking second place in my first WorldSkills event in 2010.

“That was the start of the journey to Brazil in 2015. I was really disappointed to miss out on going to Leipzig, but at 21 I feel much more ready to deal with the challenges of world class competition.”

Rianne will work with her WorldSkills trainer Jade Kidd, using the beauty therapy facilities at Warrington Collegiate to hone her skills.

Her next step is a four-day international competition in Belfast this month which will determine the final selection of the UK Squad.

Jade added: “Rianne is a talented young lady. Over the next few weeks we will be developing a specialised training programme, perfecting her skills and technique, to reach the level demanded in world class competition. I am really appreciative of the support given to Rianne by the college in terms of training facilities and encouragement.”

WorldSkills is the biggest international skills competition in the world and is held every two years.

Last year Warrington Collegiate had success with former student Ashley Terron, from Appleton, winning gold in bricklaying last year.

As well as training for Squad UK, Rianne is busy developing her career as senior beauty therapist at Akira.
