A CHARITY providing help to former Armed Forces members is calling on help with a horticultural project in Latchford.

Blue Apple Heroes has a garden scheme in Victoria Park, behind the Spirit Restaurant, and they are hoping to create a remembrance garden.

Keith Hudson, from the group said: “We want to give remembrance to veterans that have lost their battle to combat stress, as they cannot be named on the cenotaph. We think if they served they deserve the same respect.”

And the job transforming the land is not a small one with weeds reaching 7ft greeting them when they took the land on.

As the work continued they dug up a wheelbarrow and two baths.

Now they need help to turn the plain site into a tranquil place.

Keith added: “We need the use of a rotavator/digger to flatten the ground, grass seed, membrane the ground, shrubs, plants, canes, fencing, benches. Also planned is a water feature.

“If you have anything that can make our remembrance garden be a place of beauty we would like to know.”

The group is also running other sessions including arts and crafts classes and music lessons from a cabin on the site.
