Customers get freebie for donating their locks to sick children charity

A LATCHFORD salon has been going a cut above to help raise money and awareness of a children’s cancer charity.

And the customers at Infinity salon, on Westy Lane, have also been doing their bit by donating their hair to the Little Princess Trust.

Owner Nicola Maher said: “One of our stylists went to the wholesalers and brought back a leaflet with the charity and we thought it was a really nice charity to help out.

“We thought we would try to fundraise and support them.

“Throughout May we have been offering free haircuts to anyone who was willing to donate 7ins or more of their hair to the charity.”

And among those willing to step in and help out were sisters Emily and Chloe Hope.

The nine and six-year-olds, from Woolston, also decided to go in for the chop to donate hair to the charity which makes real hair wigs for children who have lost their hair through treatment for cancer.

“While we were discussing it one of our customers and her daughter both said they wanted to do it and donate their hair,” added Nicola.

“We said we thought they were too young but they were adamant they wanted to do it. So we got a doll and showed them the length their hair would be afterwards and they both wanted to do it.

“They are made up and love their new looks and they have raised more than £300.”
