GREAT Sankey Parish councillors have said they will not be supporting the council’s new winter gritting plans.
Warrington Borough Council has invited all parish councils to sign up to the winter self-help partnership agreement where the parish council would be given a small amount of grit and equipment and become responsible for gritting and replenishing grit stocks to keep roads safe in Great Sankey.
Councillors decided they did not have the ‘manpower, money, equipment or expertise’ to be able to take the work on and to the standards achieved previously by borough council workers.
