MEMBERS of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Great Sankey got on their bikes for a 100 mile cycle to commemorate 100 years since the start of the First World War.
Inspired by stories of the brave soldiers in the Army Cyclist Corps during the conflict, church members took on the sponsored challenge for the Royal British Legion earlier this month calling at cenotaphs and chapels across the north west before meeting with dignitaries at St. George's Hall in Liverpool.
During their stop at the chapel in Payne's Close, Great Sankey, the riders were greeted by Deputy Mayor cllr Geoff Settle and his wife Jean Settle who were all entertained by activities including stories and war poem readings.
The event was part of a weekend of commemoration in and around Liverpool held on behalf of the Royal British Legion.
