RESIDENTS in Great Sankey have been complaining over road closures along Whittle Avenue while white lines have been repainted.

Motorists living nearby said surrounding roads were chaotic while work took place but council chiefs have said closing the roads was essential.

A spokesman added: “Due to the type of machinery in use, it was necessary to shut Whittle Avenue in the day time so the white lines could be repainted and other repair work could be safely carried out.

“This phase of work has finished and advanced notice was given.

“In the next month there will be further work to Whittle Avenue and Westbrook Way between Lingley Green Avenue and A574 Cromwell Avenue and these will also be advertised.”
