A GREAT Sankey mum is angry calls for graffiti to be removed near her home have so far been ignored.

Leyla McGhee, of Pyecroft Road, reported vandals had dawbed messages across neighbours’ properties including walls and garages.

The 34-year-old, who moved to the area in February last year, asked for something to be done a number of weeks ago but so far has not received a reply.

She said: “There are vulgar things written on the wall of the only piece of green space in the area and it’s really made the area look scruffy.

“It’s all over the electric boxes too so you can’t miss it.”

The mum to Amelie, aged nine months, said it does not befit the area and does not want children in the area like her eight-year-old niece reading swear words in the graffiti.

She added: “I have e-mailed the local MP but have had no reply.

“The same vandals have also been at work around the area, including the children’s park on Cromdale way.

“It looks awful.”

A council spokesman said: “We have investigated this graffiti and have found this to be non-offensive.

“The majority of the graffiti is on residential property and therefore it would be the home owner’s responsibility to remove.

“Unfortunately the council will only remove graffiti from private property or land that is offensive or racist.”
