MORE than £1,600 was raised at a 24-hour Stockton Heath sing-a-thon in aid of a two-year-old boy who needs to travel to the USA to undergo treatment for a brain tumour.

Sixpence Music Studio, on Walton Road, hosted the event, which started at 8am on Saturday, July 30, to raise crucial funds for Theo Clennon.

The youngster, who lives in the town centre, was given just eight weeks to live when doctors discovered what was thought to be an inoperable brain tumour in April.

However, following a second opinion, the tumour was successfully removed.

Theo has started five months of chemotherapy, which will be followed by proton beam therapy in the USA – but the family need to raise £200,000 in order to fund the treatment.

Although more than £1,600 was raised, the studio confirmed the total is still rising.

The event was also streamed live and had around 2,000 viewers on Facebook.
