TWO managers from the town's Morrisons store set off on the challenge of a lifetime today, Thursday, for charity.

Deputy manager at the store, on Greenalls Avenue, Dave Lowe, aged 38, and compliance manager Becky Cooper, aged 22, have joined colleagues from across the country to tackle the 355-mile cycle from London to Amsterdam.

Money raised will go towards strengthening Morrisons' national partnership with health and social care charity Sue Ryder.

The duo are aiming to complete the fundraising journey in just three days and hope to raise more than £2,400 for Morrisons' Raise a Smile partnership, which is funding the expansion of Sue Ryder's end of life care services across the country.

The London to Amsterdam challenge, which is being held to celebrate Hospice Care Week, was organised following the success of two London to Brighton cycle rides in the past two years – they raised more than £260,000 for Sue Ryder.

Before the journey commenced, Dave, from Fearnhead, said the pair were 'really looking forward to it'.

He added: "Although it will be a tough three days, reaching Amsterdam and enjoying a well-earned drink on the bank of the Amstel River will be an amazing experience.

"It's also great to raise funds for our charity partner Sue Ryder.

"Morrisons in Warrington has raised more than £6,500 for Sue Ryder since our national partnership began in February 2014 and we're proud to be adding a bit more onto the total."
