LETTERS have been sent out to homes along Old Liverpool Road regarding potential plans for a KFC restaurant and Lidl supermarket.
Plans for the development, which have not yet been submitted to the council, could see work taking place on land near the pink eye building.
A spokesman for Warrington Borough Council said: "It is standard policy that any pre-planning application discussion with any party about any site is regarded as confidential and something upon which we would not comment.
"However, in regard to larger scale developments we do encourage developers to embark in a pre-application consultation exercise to support any planning application that they wish to submit.
"It should be noted that when a local authority engages in a pre-application discussion with a developer it does so from a position of neutrality.
"Pre- application discussions, therefore do not imply that a local authority is supportive of a pre-application proposal or otherwise.
"If and when a planning application is made it then becomes an open matter of public record and will be considered in a transparent, consultative and democratic manner."
