A SANKEY Bridges woman is urging residents to check their junk mail before they throw it in the bin after she had a narrow escape.

Maureen Gregson said she scooped up glossy leaflets for pizza delivery companies and supermarkets and was about to drop them all in the bin when she discovered tucked inside the wad was two letters including a cheque and a new bank card.

Mrs Gregson raised the issue with the Royal Mail manager at Milner Street and now wants to raise awareness among other homeowners.

She added: "He told me they had been doing it for 14 years but I think it's wrong important letters are being mixed in with junk mail.

"I just want to let others know that they need to check through it before throwing it all in the bin."
