A UNIQUE organisation to provide energy in Lymm is one step closer.

A group of volunteers are trying to set up a community energy organisation.

In simple, Under the plan, solar panels will be added to community buildings in the village. Those organisations will get cheaper energy and investors will get a return on their money.

Zoe Cohen, chairman of Low Carbon Lymm, said: “We are delighted to announce that Lymm Community Energy has now been formally established as a community benefit society with the financial conduct authority.”

Lymm Community Energy (LCE) has been set up by Low Carbon Lymm in collaboration with Warrington Borough Council.

LCE, the first organisation of its type in Warrington, aims to install systems on buildings that benefit as many community members as possible, such as schools, community centres, libraries, church halls and sports clubs.

It plans to open its first share offer early in 2015 and for the first scheme to be operational in spring/summer 2015.
