CHILDREN are being praised for their good behaviour in a new scheme.

A new reward system has been introduced at St Helens CE Primary School in Rixton.

Eight pupils have gained the top award, a gold certificate, only three weeks after the project was launched.

Each child has been given a ‘praise points’ booklet.

Every time they work well or demonstrate outstanding behaviour, a teacher awards a point and stamps their booklet.

A bronze certificate is then awarded for 50 points, silver for 100 and 150 for gold, plus a treat from a special prize bag.

Head teacher Christine Smith said: “Our praise points system is going absolutely wonderfully.

“Eight children have already achieved gold, which is incredible in only three weeks.

“The idea is to give lots of praise and encouragement.

“We want to celebrate every child’s achievement.”

The children say they are enjoying receiving the points.
