A TOTAL of £15,000 has been pledged for three projects in Culcheth and Glazebury to help improve disabled access and combat parking problems.

Clr Chris Vobe and Clr Matt Smith submitted a successful bid to the Local Transport Plan Fund on behalf of Culcheth and Glazebury Parish Council.

The funding is for £10,000 improvements to the path crossing New Inn Gardens for wheelchair users and Motability scooters and £4,000 will be spent on additional dropped kerbs throughout the villages.

Meanwhile, £1,000 has been allocated to fund 'design fees' to draw up a number of options to combat parking problems on Heswall Avenue.

Clr Vobe said: “We are committed to improving the long-term sustainability of our village community, and these schemes will go a long way towards that.

"Improving access to the gardens at Newchurch will encourage more people to use our village centre, and setting the ball rolling on work to combat parking congestion on Heswall Avenue will provide a great relief to residents in that part of Culcheth.”

Clr Matt Smith added: “I have taken the lead locally on a consultation with residents over the best places to install extra dropped kerbs. We are very grateful for the feedback we have received and would welcome any further suggestions people want to make."
