Poetry competition commemorates Titanic

A POETRY writing competition has been held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the famous Titanic.

Forget-me-not toy and bookshop in Common Lane, Culcheth, teamed up with Usborne to invite key stage two children to put the event into verse.

Owner Naomi Simpson said: “There have been many beautiful books published to mark the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the titanic.

“We felt that this was a topic of historical importance that children in primary schools could explore.”

Pupils from Newchurch Primary School were commended for submitting so many thought provoking poems.

Winners will be presented with their Usborne Titanic Sticker book later this month.
