A CAMPAIGN to improve facilities for young people in Mee Brow is progressing well, according to latest feedback from council officers.

Culcheth councillors Chris Vobe and Matt Smith launched a scheme to upgrade the provisions on the Mee Brow Playing Fields earlier this year.

Along with Cllr Joan Grime, they brought Warrington Borough Council officers to the site to show what improvements could be made.

They want the play equipment to be at the standard of nearby Culcheth Village Green and Croft Playing Fields.

Following a consultation with residents, Cllr Vobe and Cllr Smith have now handed a document to the council's chief executive, Steven Broomhead, which sets out the case for a complete refurbishment.

Cllr Vobe said: "We strongly believe that new play equipment and upgraded facilities are needed on the Playing Fields at Eden Avenue, for the benefit of all the young people in the area.

"After bringing officers from the Town Hall to the village to see the current provisions for themselves, we were pleased to put an extensive document forward to the council which makes the case for funding.

"We have been successful with similar projects that we have worked on – such as our bid to secure investment in Shaw Street.

"We are pleased that this latest campaign to bring significant funding to Mee Brow is already progressing well.

"We will be updating residents on Mee Brow in the next few days – both Matt and I are firm champions of this part of our village, and we’re really keen to ensure that people here don’t get left behind."
