A GRANT scheme has been set up to kickstart community group projects.

Birchwood Park has helped launch The Birchwood Fund offering funding of up to £750 for schemes by charities with an income of £30,000 or less a year.

Teaming up with Warrington Voluntary Action, and the not for profit community network, The Birchwood Partnership, the fund is for the benefit of groups in Birchwood, Locking Stumps, Oakwood and Gorse Covert.

Suzanne Whitelaw at Birchwood Park said: “We’re really pleased to be able to help launch this initiative. We have always been committed to the Birchwood community and The Birchwood Fund is all about giving a little bit extra to local groups, to help where they need it most.

"We want to hear from everyone that needs a little boost, whether it’s for new kitchen appliances, training equipment, toys or even refurbishment of their Scout hut. The only credential is that they are based in the area.”

The panel will meet every two months to review and process applications. The minimum award is £100.
