A POPULAR woodland spot has been given a £13,000 makeover.

Gorse Covert Mounds was awarded the grant from WREN (Waste Recycling Environmental Limited) which has enabled The Woodland Trust to resurface pathways, thin areas of woodland that have become overgrown and place a bench at the highest point of the site.

Neil Oxley, Woodland Trust site manager said: “Gorse Covert Mounds is a hugely popular and well-used wood, especially by the community.

"This investment, made possible by the grant from WREN, will enable more people to enjoy the wood and also give people a chance to stop for a breather and enjoy the fantastic views across the landscape.

"It has also enabled us to carefully thin some areas of overgrown woodland near the paths, which will enable a variety of flowers to better thrive in the springtime.”

WREN is a not-for-profit business that awards grants to community projects near landfill sites.
