Enfield Park Road residents' speeding worries
9:51am Friday 13th April 2012 in News
RESIDENTS next to Enfield Park Road are concerned about speeding cars.
Several have got in touch with councillors to complain about cars, scooters and bikes exceeding the 30mph limit.
Homeowners want visual warnings about the limit put in place.

A number have spoken to me about their concerns recently. This may simply be their perception of speed when they are walking or standing at the bus stop.
PCSO’s have taken readings and not found a large number of drivers travelling over 30MPh however there have been two incidents in during the last two week where two bollards have been destroyed at two different pedestrian crossings, Kinross and St Andrews.
At the St Andrews crossing the remains of a scooter filled a carrier bag with mirrors, bits of fairing etc. I remember a car hitting the previous bollard at the crossing a year or so ago. Not to mention the incidents with cars hitting lampposts and a pedestrian being hit whilst on another crossing a bit further on down the road as well as the large sign post on the corner with Crab Lane that was destroyed a few weeks ago.
I remember when Albert oversaw the changes to the road design introducing the pedestrian crossing and pinch points that were designed to slow traffic down. Having said this, a local resident still calls for their removal as he argues that they were a waste of money.
The last measurements taken in traffic surveys have not found a only a few drivers exceeding the speed limit. However it would appear that those that do exceed it are not caught out by the police but by the road measures. Hence the reason why residents are calling for some warnings signs to be displayed. It would certainly help people use the pedestrian crossings.

Also, it doesnt help Delph Lane is 50/60 over the bridge then slows to 30. Do people obey that? Do they heck, they speed straight into the roundabout.

With the new play areas opening up, especially the toddlers a crossing is very important.
As for Delph Lane why this wasn't done when the 40mph was introduced, I've no idea - unless it is because it stops at a boundary - but it my eyes this isn't an excuse.

I live off Ballater Drive and have nearly been side swiped at this roundabout on many occasion! Only matter of time before another serious accident.
There should be a crossing on Blackbrook Ave opposite Peel Hall Park.

EPR is one of the few roads in Warrington that has not suffered from the street littering with useless signs etc, thanks mainly to two ( deceased) councillors that stood up for the silent majority.
lets see if the current lot stand up too.
