STOCKTON Heath Writers Group has announced the winners of its inaugural creative writing competition.
Liz Hedgecock topped the short story category after impressing judges with 'Life to the Full'.
She said she was inspired by the 'internet of things' technology.
"I wondered what reaction computer software would have when faced with an actual human relationship," she added.
"It's interesting to wonder how an all-knowing, logical and controlling machine would cope when faced with human emotions."
Liz scooped the main prize of £100, donated by Knight Corporate Finance, while Geraldine Snape scooped £50 for poem 'The End of the Line', sponsored by Fifth Day.
The group meets on the last Thursday of each month at Stockton Heath Library. Sessions run from 6pm to 8pm.
