AN inspirational Stockton Heath youngster has been recognised for his phenomenal fundraising efforts for Alder Hey Children's Hospital.
Ted McCaffery, aged eight, scooped the Independent on Sunday's happy list award during a Just Giving ceremony in London.
The Grange Primary School pupil, who is a fundraising ambassador for the hospital, gave a speech on the importance of 'making people happy' before being presented with his award by Superman actor Henry Cavill.
The Independent on Sunday nominated ten people before readers voted on the eventual winner.
Ted began fundraising for Alder Hey after undergoing lifesaving open heart surgery in May 2013.
Initially he wanted to raise enough money to replace a broken television at the hospital but has since gone on to help raise more than £20,000.
It has been a memorable few months for Ted, who also got the chance to meet Liverpool stars Daniel Sturridge and Lucas Leiva through charitable organisation Box 4 Kids.
