A SCHEME to bring the community together is music to the ears of festival organisers.

Lumb Brook Millenium Green will be one of more than 150 free community events taking place across the country later this month to bring members of Appleton together.

A spokesman for Lumb Brook Millenium Green said: “It is a great opportunity for the Appleton community to discover their park.”

It is the second year the park will be holding the festival of music after Our Big Gig was launched as part of the Inspired by 2012 project to keep the legacy of the Olympics and Paralympics alive.

Emmanuel Dupuis, from the Lumb Brook Millenium Green management team, said: “Last year the Lumb Brook Millenium Green organised a music day.

People were delighted by the event and the performers.

“This year, in cooperation with Our Big Gig we are organising a similar event. Everyone is welcome to come to the green.”

Last year saw 10 performances throughout the day and stalls helped to raise money towards park funds.

Music lovers are invited to come down and bring an instrument if they want to join in or otherwise just listen to the music being played and share a drink and food with others.

There will be an open stage for artists to perform on.

Food and drink will also be available to buy on the day.

The Big Gig will take place on Saturday, from 2pm to 6pm at the park on Lumb Brook Road.

If you would like to performdrop the organisers an e-mail or turn up on the day.

A keyboard, speakers, connections for instruments and microphones are available to use on the day.
