PUPILS at Sir Thomas Boteler CE High School were hoping to hear the words ‘you’re hired’.

Year 10 pupils from the Grammar School Road school in Latchford took part in an ‘Apprentice’ style challenge day at Warrington Collegiate.

They were put through their paces with a range of activities including building a tower from marshmallows and spaghetti to designing and promoting a new chocolate bar for a leading manufacturer.

Pupil Dylan Waters, aged 15, said: “The activities we took part in will be useful in the future as I decide on what I want to do when I leave school.”

Liam Horrigan, assistant headteacher added: “Warrington Collegiate supports a number of the initiatives we are developing in school to raise pupil awareness of opportunities available to them post-16. Today’s employability skills session for pupils in Year 10 as part of their work experience programme has been another resounding success.

“The feedback is really positive. The experience has been really rewarding for our pupils and it’s made a great start to the planned week of activities.”
