WORK to transform Westy Park into a premier park has begun.
Builders are now on site constructing a multi-use play area that will offer the chance for community groups and friends to play sports like football, netball and basketball – whatever the weather.
Clr Steve Wright (LAB – Latchford East), chairman of Friends of Westy Park, said: “The work is part of the Westy Park vision. It’s a great example of what can be achieved when a community is allowed to draw up what it wants for the community. The kids will love it and it will be an opportunity to get them fit.”
The group hope to have the work completed before the end of July, though it is thought it will not be ready in time for Westy Carnival on Sunday, July 19.
