PUPILS and staff at a Latchford primary school are celebrating after being told it is an improving school in its latest Ofsted report.
Alderman Bolton Primary School on Henshall Avenue was judged to be found a good and improving school in the report published last month.
Denise Shields, the inspector picked out personal development and wellbeing of the pupils as the school’s strongest point, awarding it with an outstanding mark.
She said: “Pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural awareness is outstanding. Behaviour is exceptionally good so that pupils settle well to their work and lessons are rarely interrupted. Pupils are polite, helpful and enthusiastic about their school.”
The report goes on to say that some teaching is outstanding and that progress is seen in children with learning difficulties or disabilities.
But the report does sat that the school should make sure that more able pupils are consistently challenged to help achieve higher standards in their work.
It also said that pupils’ learning targets should be made individual to them and clearly inform them of the next steps to improve their learning.
Head teacher Lyndsey Glass was praised for her ‘inspirational leadership’ and the fact that staff share her clear vision and determination to bring about improvement.
Mrs Glass said: “These results really just validate what we already know here at Alderman Bolton, that we are a very effective school which works as a team.
“I think the pupils, parents, governors and staff should all be proud of what we have achieved working together as one for the benefit of our children.”
