VOLUNTEERS rolled up their sleeves to clean up the Westy and Latchford community.
The council’s central neighbourhood team joined forces with Novelis and volunteers to give Mersey Walk in Westy a makeover.
Working together, the group repaired the broken fence, re-painted it and also removed overgrown bushes and weeds from the surrounding area before volunteers were invited to Westy Community Centre for a well-earned buffet.
Cllr Kate Hannon, executive board member for leisure, community and culture at Warrington Borough Council, told the Guardian: “It’s fantastic to see that there were such a great number of people who turned up to help out on the day.
“We are keen to make sure that the areas of Warrington are kept clean and tidy and we hope to continue to hold these community clean-up days.
“I would like to thank all of the volunteers for their hard work and enthusiasm on the day as they have made a real difference in their area and district.”
