A TEAM of volunteers did their bit to help make a difference for residents in Latchford.

Golden Gates Housing Trust (GGHT) teamed up with Lloyds Banking group's Speke telephone banking call centre to give a communal garden between flats on Reynolds Street and Broadbent Street a makeover.

The team from the firm's call centre were tasked with clearing the area of weeds and rubbish, replanting flower beds and adding extra touches such as bird feeders and solar lights.

Residents in the area showed their appreciation of the transformation and moral support by providing hot water for the teas.

Apart from knowing that they had helped improve the communal area for a number of residents, the experience helped members of each team develop skills in organisational and project management.

The partnership between GGHT and Lloyds is part of Lloyds Banking Group’s commitment to supporting colleagues in investing one million hours in communities by the end of 2015.

Bank and savings consultant Louise Stanton said: “It’s great that the company allows us to take time away from our normal role to help out in the community how we want to. Working with GGHT was a great way to support the work they do by being able to improve the communal garden and create somewhere the residents would like to spend time in.”

GGHT chairman Roy Smith added: “It’s fantastic to see the communal garden come to life with the hard work from staff at Lloyds Banking Group’s Speke call centre. Everybody at GGHT really appreciates the hard work they put in throughout the day.”
