THE Bishop of Warrington the Right Rev Richard Blackburn was on hand to help bless a new development at St Elphin’s CE Primary School.

The Farrell Street school has had a £750,000 extension, jointly funded by Warrington Borough Council and Liverpool Church of England Diocese, to offer more places to pupils, moving from a one-and-a-half class entry to two class entry.

It has been built at the school, which opened its doors at its current site in 2008, to meet growing demand for places.

The dedication, which took place last Tuesday, started with an Easter service for parents, carers and guests including the Mayor of Warrington Clr Peter Carey.

Head teacher Mary Cummings said: “The visitors were given a tour of the school followed by the dedication service outside for the new extension. The new unit has three new classrooms and an office and group area to cater for the expanding needs of the school. The children are enjoying the new facilities and new classrooms.”
