POLICE are urging Oakwood residents to be vigilant after a recent rise in burglaries.

Officers say items have been stolen from sheds and unlocked cars by opportunist thieves.

Two sheds were targeted in the area on Tuesday, May 20, when a mountain bike was taken.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “Make sure all windows and doors are locked and remove valuables when a vehicle is left unattended, particularly overnight.

“In relation to sheds and garages, ensure all windows and doors are secure, use good quality locks and consider investing in an alarm.

“Lock or chain bicycles together or attach them to something fixed or bulky to reduce the ability for a thief to steal them.”

To report any suspicious activity call the police on 101.
