Delays over pond, play
equipment and footpath
continue to anger community

A WHITTLE Hall councillor says residents in Chapelford are growing increasingly frustrated over missed deadlines from housebuilder David Wilson Homes.

Neighbours said the developer had initially promised a pond would be completed near Missouri Drive, equipment in Our Wood would be installed and a footpath to Our Wood would be opened in time for the school summer holidays.

But weeks later homeowners are still waiting for the work to be completed.

Clr Faisal Rashid said: “David Wilson Homes never achieve the deadlines set out and we have to keep following things up.

“Residents feel they have been putting all their resources into building houses and don’t finish work in the community areas which is very frustrating for them.

“You will see someone working on the site for a day and then they will disappear.”

Parents in the area have been particularly angered by a pond not being completed in time as the area has been fenced off and ‘abandoned’ during a time when children want to play out during the holidays.

A spokesman from David Wilson Homes said: “The work to install public open space and play equipment at Missouri Drive and Our Wood was scheduled to be completed by August 7.

“Unfortunately, our contractors have been unable to complete the works in the agreed time.

“We are currently in discussion with them on a revised programme and can assure all residents that we are doing what we can to get the facilities in place and open to the public at the earliest opportunity.”
