Grove properties are transformed under energy project

TENANTS living on The Grove in Penketh have been celebrating after five properties were transformed.

The group of five houses have benefited from a ‘whole house’ energy project from Golden Gates Housing Trust (GGHT) with work including the installation of new roofs, solar PV panels, loft insulation and replacement windows.

Residents living in the properties are expected to save an average of £160 per year on fuel bills.

One resident said the noise at her home had been reduced since the changes while another said they now had the heating on ‘half as much’.

Roy Smith, chairman GGHT, said: “It is fantastic to see the difference these improvements have made to the lives of our tenants.

“As a trust we are committed to making all of our properties energy efficient and increasing the use of renewable energy to help tackle fuel poverty.”

Outcomes from the project were showcased at a recent ‘Energy efficiency in social housing’ event held in Warrington and attended by representatives from housing organisations and councils who were looking to learn about what could be achieved in their own areas.
