A NEW traffic scheme is being presented to Town Hall bosses which could make it safer for Croft residents backing out of their driveways.

There has been long-standing problems with motorists speeding in Mill House Lane.

But now the rural road is set to benefit from a 'build out' – or widening – on the westbound side, before the start of the houses.

This is designed to slow down traffic on approach to the homes, allowing more time and better visibility for residents pulling out of their driveways.

Funds have been earmarked for the scheme which is set to be presented to Warrington Borough Council’s Local Transport Plan team.

Cathy Mitchell, Labour's parliamentary candidate for Culcheth, Glazebury and Croft, said: “The problems on Mill House Lane are long-standing, but we were determined to work with residents to find a solution.

“The Lane is very narrow, and has a unique layout, so coupled with the incidents of speeding traffic that we saw for ourselves, the situation was becoming very dangerous for people who live in the area.

“The new scheme funded by the council should make a real difference, and we are delighted to have secured the investment."
