Orford teenager picked out of 200 to secure job with United Utilities

AN Orford teenager has been picked ahead of 200 candidates to secure a job with United Utilities.

Scott Robinson, aged 18, will start with the company in September.

He passed an aptitude test and survived several rigorous interviews to become one of four accepted on to the company’s prestigious trainee scientist apprentice programme.

The Priestley College student said: “I wanted an alternative route to university and to work for a science-based company so it is ideal.”

Elaine Billington, head of business partnering and talent at United Utilities, said: “New talent is the life-blood of any large organisation and our apprenticeship scheme is helping us nurture the right people to deliver the services our customers expect.

"Technical roles like these are especially important and Scott has demonstrated that he is going to be a real asset to the team."
