  • "No comwgn – local residents are not joking.
A number have spoken to me about their concerns recently. This may simply be their perception of speed when they are walking or standing at the bus stop.
PCSO’s have taken readings and not found a large number of drivers travelling over 30MPh however there have been two incidents in during the last two week where two bollards have been destroyed at two different pedestrian crossings, Kinross and St Andrews.
At the St Andrews crossing the remains of a scooter filled a carrier bag with mirrors, bits of fairing etc. I remember a car hitting the previous bollard at the crossing a year or so ago. Not to mention the incidents with cars hitting lampposts and a pedestrian being hit whilst on another crossing a bit further on down the road as well as the large sign post on the corner with Crab Lane that was destroyed a few weeks ago.
I remember when Albert oversaw the changes to the road design introducing the pedestrian crossing and pinch points that were designed to slow traffic down. Having said this, a local resident still calls for their removal as he argues that they were a waste of money.
The last measurements taken in traffic surveys have not found a only a few drivers exceeding the speed limit. However it would appear that those that do exceed it are not caught out by the police but by the road measures. Hence the reason why residents are calling for some warnings signs to be displayed. It would certainly help people use the pedestrian crossings."
