FOR the past three decades, Anthea Lee had made her way to the same school in Padgate to do a job that she has loved since the first day she turned up to work.

But now, after 31 years and four months - not that she's counting - the 66-year-old has decided to retire from her job as office manager at Christ Church Primary School in Padgate.

The mum of two, of Wilkinson Street, Orford, said: "I don't know where the time has gone. I have just enjoyed it.

"I love the children and each one is different. The staff are all really nice, caring and supportive. The school has a strong Christian ethos.

"I had a really difficult time a few years ago and they were all there for me."

Anthea first started at the school on Station Road as a clerical assistant, working her way up to office manager.

Over that time she has seen many children come through the school doors and says each one with always have a special place in her heart.

She added: "What I will miss the most is the children and there has been hundreds of them that I have got to know over the years.

"They always say the funniest things. One time a child told me a dog had eaten his homework. It made me laugh."

Now that retirement is upon her, the Warrington Wolves fan, who counts Chris Bridge as her favourite player, is looking forward to spending time with her friends and family.

But she has not been able to cut all ties with the school just yet and has still been popping in to see the staff and pupils who made her job so enjoyable.
