NEIGHBOURHOOD police have issued a warning to anyone intending to get carried away by the summer holidays, with a warning anti-social behaviour is expected to rise.

Sgt Darren Burns, of Warrington East NPU, said: “The start of the summer holiday season can often mean that we experience an increase in anti-social behaviour in our area.

“Historically we have seen that when young people have more free time and nothing to occupy them, there is a risk that they could become involved in anti-social behaviour and even low level crime.

“We will not tolerate individuals who cause misery for our local residents and businesses.”

In a bid to stop problems in the area like under age drinking, criminal damage, and threatening behaviour, police will be visiting people in the area they believe are likely to offend.

Information will be given on what activities are on offer over the holiday period.

Officers say they will also visit victims of anti-social behaviour to offer ‘support and reassurance’ that police will deal with any new concerns.

Police are also calling on parents to make sure they know where children are, and who they are with.

Sgt Burns added: “Our message is simple – those who involve themselves in anti-social acts will be dealt with robustly.

“Whether it’s involving the individual in an anti-social behaviour contract, or making arrests where appropriate and putting people before the courts, I want to reassure our communities that criminal activity will not be tolerated.

“Parents play a large part and are encouraged to be intrusive with their children’s whereabouts and activities at all times.”
