STAFF and residents at Woodleigh Care Home in Callands rolled out the red carpet to mark Dignity Action Day.

The national event serves as a reminder of the importance of dignity for all.

Cllr Pat Wright, executive board member for health and wellbeing and adult services, said: "This important day is a reminder that we all have a role to play in ensuring the dignity of vulnerable adults in our community.

"It falls to all of us, not just those who work in health and care settings, to work together to make a difference."

Baroness Joan Bakewell, dignity in care ambassador, added: “Dignity Action Day highlights a more respectful way of behaving towards vulnerable people.

“The very old and the very young clearly need our respect, but it wouldn’t do any harm to spread the dignity message across the population – then we can all benefit.”
