Solar park plans in Burtonwood under consideration

BLUEPRINTS to build a solar energy farm have been submitted to the council planning department.

According to documents on the council website, SEP Solar is seeking planning permission to build a renewable energy park on the land south of Joy Lane and west of Wright's Lane.

The land is currently categorised as green belt.

The solar farm would generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of 1,515 homes, it has been claimed.

But the energy produced will be sold to nearby businesses in both the private and public sector.

In the documents, the developer states that the proposed building work is of 'low visual impact' and the site will be returned to its former agricultural use once the project has been completed.

It is also reported that - should the developer be given the green light to construct the solar park - there will be a 'significant positive benefit to the council and public-sector employers.

Warning issued over parking fears

A WARNING has been issued to parents to remind motorists of the dangers of ignoring parking restrictions outside Westbrook Old Hall Primary School.

This follows the news that a woman was struck by a car near to the school on Old Hall Road last month following a heated dispute over parking.

The victim was taken to hospital following the incident but police have confirmed that she only suffered minor injuries.

Head teacher Stewart Quinn said: “The safety of our children is paramount and we are committed to working with patents to ensure that children are safe when entering and leaving the school premises.

“We remind our parents to park safely away from the school gates as well as encourage them to use more sustainable transport when travelling to and from school, to help alleviate congestion, improve health and reduce environmental impact.

“I would like to thank those parents who do park safely away from school and remind the school community that the safety of children is our number one priority.”
