A MARATHON hopeful has hit the ground running with his latest fundraising efforts.

Jack Chadwick, of Golborne Road, Winwick, has not only signed up to the London Marathon but has launched Jobs for Jack as a way of raising extra funds for Arthritis Research UK.

Need your car cleaning or a shelf putting up? The 25-year-old, who works as a car dismantler, is happy to help in return for a donation to his chosen charity.

He said: "I'm trying to raise around £2,000 and thought this was a good way to help try and achieve that.

"The donation will be whatever the person feels the job is worth."

Arthritis Research UK is a charity close to his heart as both his mum, Yvonne Chadwick, and grandma, Evelyn Headspith, suffer from the condition.

It is currently the biggest funder of research into the cause, treatment and cure of all forms of arthritis and is leading the fight against the condition.

He said: "They both have rheumatoid arthritis. My grandma just had an operation to help her walk as she had been using a wheelchair. Now she can walk again.

"It is great charity and one I support."

Jack, who will be running the marathon with his partner, Rachel Harris, aged 26, is now in training for the run to make sure he crosses over the finish line.

"I'm not new to running. I have done a done a few five and 10ks and quite a lot of obstacle mud running.

"But this will be my first marathon. I have a hit a bit of a wall at the moment but I just have to push through it."
