IT all most didn't go ahead following a series of setbacks but members of St Philip's Church in Westbrook rallied together to make sure the annual nativity display was paraded for all to see.
Since 1993, church members have organised the collection which sees a nativity scene pulled around in a trailer by a car with festive tunes blasting out to announce its arrival.
With a helping hand from Rob Tam at Bentleys Toyota Warrington, who provided a car to make sure the Christmas tradition still went ahead, members raised almost £3,000 for the YMCA in the town centre for its Room at the Inn project.
Thirty-three volunteers braved the bitter winter temperatures for 10 nights over a two week period to collect vital funds for the charity.
Coordinator Helen Bateman said she would like to thank the residents from Westbrook, Old Hall, Callands and Kingswood for their generous donations.
She added: "People don't often realise how many people need to use facilities like the YMCA. The money has gone to a worthy cause."
