CELEBRATIONS were in full swing at Winwick Primary School after Ofsted inspectors praised the school in all four categories - handing them the second highest rating available.

The school on Myddleton Lane, which was previously marked as requires improvement, was graded as good after Ofsted visited the school October 21 and 22.

In the report, which is publicly available on the Ofsted website, praise was heaped on standards in teaching, pupil behaviour and achievement and leadership at the school.

Head teacher Ian Price said he was proud of what the school has achieved and said both staff and governors are committed to ensuring this progress continues.

He said: "The Ofsted grading of good that the school received is justification for all the hard work every member of the school including staff, children, governors and parents have put in over the past 18 months.

"It has been a whole team effort with everybody pulling in the same direction in order for our children to achieve their best.”
