Foxed up with be taking to the stage on Saturday, September 5.

Celebrations at Westbrook pre-school

GRADUATION gowns and miniature mortar boards were donned by youngsters at Stepping Stones Childcare when they bid a fond farewell to the staff at the Westbrook nursery.

The children performed songs for their proud parents before enjoying an Alice in Wonderland inspired tea party.

The event was part of their end of year celebrations before heading off to start school.

 

Thousands raised for Claire House Children’s Hospice

THE team at Miller Homes have revealed that £2,000 was raised for Claire House Children’s Hospice following a family fun day at Kingswood Community Centre.

This now brings the total of fundraising from the North West team to £9,000.

Nicola Inganni, from Miller Homes Charity Committee, said: "Our family fun day was a great success.

“We had a lot of fun and managed to raise a lot of money for a great cause.

"It was great to engage with people from the local community and get them involved in many fun activities, the bouncy castle was very popular with the children and a few big kids.

"We’re proud to be raising money for Claire House Children’s Hospice, they do an amazing job looking after poorly children.”

 

Reports of parking complaints revealed by councillor

CHESHIRE Police have received three reports of bad parking outside Westbrook Old Hall Primary School this year.

The figures were revealed by Cllr Faisal Rashid (Whittle Hall – LAB) after he contacted the police over his safety concerns following a number of incidents.

Litter pick to tackle litter problem in Burtonwood

VOLUNTEERS are needed for the Big Burtonwood Tidy Up.

Cllr Kevin Burgess from the Burtonwood and Westbrook Parish Council has organised the litter pick to clean up the village.

Willing participants are asked to meet at the car par of St Michael's Church Hall at 11am on August 8.

Equipment will be provided but volunteers are advised to dress appropriately.

Free refreshments will be available for volunteers after the litter pick which will finish at 2pm.

 

Poppy picnic held in aid of Armed forces

THE picnic season has arrived and staff and residents The Old Vicarage Care Home in Burtonwood made the most of the short-live sunshine.

The team hosted a poppy picnic to raise funds for The Royal British Legion.

The poppy picnic was held in the grounds of the care home on Fir Tree Lane with music from DJ Mike Byrne.

 

Head teacher speaks of 'honour' of Archbishop visit

THE Most Reverend Malcolm McMahon visited St Gregory's High School in Westbrook for the first time earlier this month.

The Archbishop of Liverpool hosted a school assembly to mark the end of Seal it with Liberty week.

He also took the time to hand out the SEAL Awards which are given at the end of the year to an exemplary pupil from each year group.

Head teacher Paul Heitzman said it was an honour and a privilege to welcome the archbishop to the school on Cromwell Avenue.
