TWO friends have spoken of their excitement after securing the perfect job share.

Teenagers Megan Dawson and Kathryn Thomas, who both live in Winwick, have been crowned as joint rose queens.

The duo were unveiled as this year's title holders at the Winwick Summer Gala which was held at St Oswalds Church.

Since meeting 10 years ago at Sunday school, Hope Academy student Megan, aged 14, and Great Sankey High School pupil Kathryn, aged 15, have struck up a close friendship.

Kathryn said: "We have both been involved with the church and Megan is a past pupil of Winwick Primary School.

"It is for these reasons that we are so pleased we have both been crowned as rose queens at this year's summer gala.

"We think this is the first time Winwick has had a job share for the rose queens."

The double act were accompanied on the day by Miranda Leeming, aged 10, Glory Steer, aged 11, and Eden Steer, aged eight, who will act as attendants.

Kathryn added: "A big thank you to all those involved who help make this event such a success for the community of Winwick.

"We are both very much looking forward to serving as rose queens for the coming year."
