Delete Blood Cancer event a success

THE community life coordinator at Asda Westbrook has spoken of the success of stem cell donor register event last earlier this month.

Cathy Robinson said she was delighted by the amount of support by the customers.

She said: "We would like to say thank all the customers and colleagues who supported the Delete Blood Cancer event.

"Five Asda stores were involved in running the activity.

"We collected 69 swab samples for the stem cell register from colleagues and customers."

Over the coming week, staff at Asda have planned a number of events as part of its community campaign.

Learning Initiative for Life is a five week programme involving Birchwood High and Lymm High schools.

The programme joins businesses from Warrington with a group of year 10 pupils over a five-week period.

During this time, the pupils will learn communication, enterprise and presentation skills.

Time to Shine is a programme which runs in partnership with Gateway Job Club.

The idea is to help support people who have been unemployed for a while to apply for work.

The course looks at skills which will help when applying for a job and how to fill in application forms by building confidence and interview skills.
