A KIND-HEARTED primary school pupil from Callands has had her hair chopped for a cause close to her heart.

Brooke Quinn, of Colwyn Close, decided to donate almost 16 inches of her long locks to the Little Princess Trust, a charity which makes makes wigs for children who have lost their hair through cancer treatment or other illnesses.

The eight-year-old, who currently attends St Philips Primary School in Westbrook, was inspired to raise money to help after witnessing the cancer battle of a relative.

She also took inspiration from popstar Jessie J.

Brooke said: "When Jessie J had her hair cut off on TV and gave it to charity, I did not know that children lose their hair when they are affected by cancer and the medicine they need to try to get better again.

"This made me feel very sad so I asked my mum and dad if I could help someone by giving them my hair.

"My hope is to raise enough money to buy a special wig to help another child with no hair."

Brooke braved the chop on Thursday at Salon 150 in Padgate.
