ONE kind-hearted youngster is no stranger to helping others but 10-year-old Grace Burgess, from Burtonwood, decided to get her entire primary school involved with her latest fundraising efforts.

The year five pupil organised a dress in blue day at Burtonwood Primary School, raising more than £185 for Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

This is a place which is close to Grace's heart as she has spent countless hours at the hospital after she was diagnosed with chronic kidney failure as a tot.

Proud dad Kevin Burgess said: "She has been going to Alder Hey since the age of two and she wanted to give something back.

"It was her idea. She is always thinking of others and putting them before herself. I'm really proud of her."

The money was raised by youngsters making a donation after swapping their uniform for blue-coloured clothes.

Grace said she was delighted to raise the cash as she knows only too well how donations can make a real difference at the hospital.

She said: "We did the fundraiser to support the children who are not very well."

Speaking about why she chose to support Alder Hey, Grace said: "It is really nice there and they always help you.

"When you are having an injection they sit and play with you and keep you happy."
